Cloning and expression of tetanus toxin C fragment (Fc) in prokaryotic vector for constructing recombinant protein based vaccine for tetanus

Tetanus is a disease caused by tetanus toxin, a potent inhibitor for the release of inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that causes spastic paralysis. Fragment C (52 kD) of this toxin is responsible for binding to the neuronal membrane. For this reason, and also its non toxigenic and immunogenic nature, this fragment might be ideal for new vaccine development. Presently, w...

ایجاد یک روش نوین آزمایشگاهی الایزا توبی (ToBi Assay) برای تعیین پوتنسی واکسن بومی توکسوییدی کزاز درایران

Background: One of the major uses of large number of laboratory animals in manufacturing the vaccines is the quality control testing of vaccines, particularly potency testing of vaccines containing the tetanus toxoids by either lethal challenge or serum neutralization tests. Recently, because of various difficulties to obtain quality laboratory animals and in adequate environmental conditions, ...

Synthetic Cannabinoid-Induced Immunosuppression Augments Cerebellar Dysfunction in Tetanus-Toxin Treated Mice

Synthetic cannabinoids are one of most abused new psychoactive substances. The recreational use of abused drug has aroused serious concerns about the consequences of these drugs on infection. However, the effects of synthetic cannabinoid on resistance to tetanus toxin are not fully understood yet. In the present study, we aimed to determine if the administration of synthetic cannabinoids increa...

The Localized Action on the Spinal Cord of Intramuscularly Injected Tetanus Toxin

Local tetanus limited to one leg was studied in cats after intramuscular injection of tetanus toxin. 1. The electric and mechanical response of the affected muscle after a single stimulus to the intact sensory-motor nerve is greater in amplitude and duration than the response of the corresponding muscle of the unaffected leg (Fig. 1). 2. This augmented response of the muscle is associated with ...

SV2 Mediates Entry of Tetanus Neurotoxin into Central Neurons

Tetanus neurotoxin causes the disease tetanus, which is characterized by rigid paralysis. The toxin acts by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters from inhibitory neurons in the spinal cord that innervate motor neurons and is unique among the clostridial neurotoxins due to its ability to shuttle from the periphery to the central nervous system. Tetanus neurotoxin is thought to interact wit...
